City of Adelaide receives Award of Excellence The City of Adelaide has received an Award of Excellence in the 2017 Australian Institute of Landscape Architects’ (AILA) National Landscape Awards for its capacity to respond to big challenges. The Colonel Light Centre in Adelaide's city centre was transformed through the addition of living infrastructure to its facade and columns, creating a living building that provides a aesthetic beauty, a wildlife habitat, rainwater harvesting and cooling properties. Sydney Design Awards for Breathing Wall projects The Atlassian office in Sydney has received a Gold Award at the 2017 Sydney Design Awards for its interior office fitout by Siren Design. The fitout, featuring cascading plants and the Junglefy Breathing Wall, fulfilled the brief to create a practical and flexible workspace whilst providing a unique and highly creative space that would live up to Atlassian’s credentials as “The Best Place to Work”. City of Adelaide awarded for its green commitment The City of Adelaide has been recognised by the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects in its annual awards program. The awards celebrate the work of landscape architects and the role that landscaping plays in making our communities more liveable. The City of Adelaide received the award for the revitalisation of its headquarters at the Colonel Light Centre in Adelaide. Orange Regional Museum takes NSW Architecture Award The Orange Regional Museum has been awarded the Sulman Medal for Public Architecture in the NSW Architecture Awards. The iconic building features a large sloping grass roof, serving as a public meeting place and cultural space to hold festivals and movie nights and to display sculptures. The Crone Architects design combines the new museum with existing library and gallery buildings to create a cultural hub for the area. The grassed green roof project was undertaken by Junglefy in 2016 to provide consultation on the initial design concept and to bring the green roof to life. The Burnley Living Roofs project at the University of Melbourne’s Burnley campus recently won the prestigious BPN Sustainability Award for landscape design. Designed by architecture firm HASSELL, the Burnley Living Roofs project won the Landscape Design category at the Australian BPN 2015 Sustainability Awards held in Sydney for making “an important contribution to the understanding of the benefits of green roof design” according to the jury.
