The City of Adelaide has been recognised by the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects in its annual awards program. The awards celebrate the work of landscape architects and the role that landscaping plays in making our communities more liveable.
The City of Adelaide received the award for the revitalisation of its headquarters at the Colonel Light Centre in Adelaide. Previously a dated civic building, the addition of the green wall modules directly on to the exterior columns has transformed the council office in to a vibrant, living building that practices what it preaches. The City of Adelaide has been recognised for its leadership and commitment to sustainability, with the local council being a driving force in increasing the city’s green space.
The green columns and facade adorning the building stands as a demonstrative example of the possibilities of incorporating living infrastructure within buildings and facades.
