Scentre Group are currently undergoing a serious revamp of their Westfield shopping centres, with Westfield Chatswood, in Sydney’s Northern Suburbs, one of the latest to get a luxurious new facelift. Junglefy was responsible for the design, installation and ongoing maintenance of a creative new green wall, made with both real and artificial plants, which acts as a colourful feature wall leading into the newly opened Asian-inspired dining precinct.
Junglefy modified the initial concept design brief provided by Scentre Group in order to develop a more suitable design for the specified location. Considering the unique location of the green wall, recessed into FC sheet paneling, a typical ladder frame was not appropriate, and as such we designed an aluminium frame with individual posts and rails as supports for the green wall modules. We were also responsible for developing a planting plan based on feedback from the Scentre Group design team to ensure the plants met the concept brief, as well as the functional properties of the green wall.
As it is a public retail space, Junglefy completes all maintenance prior to 9am.
Due to restrictions from the paneled façade, we created a unique drip tray, adding pond liner as an additional drip channel, leading from the modules to the conventional drip tray. We also cut the modules to size to fit comfortably behind the curved edges of the panels.
